Positive and Negative Impact of New Education Policy of India

What is education?
Education gives us knowledge to run the life cycle. In life we can buy everything with the help of
money but we cannot buy education with the help of money. Education and knowledge can be earn
only and only through experience. If a person have a good knowledge and experience so he/she can
earn good money in any field but if they don’t have knowledge they cannot do anything in life.
Education plays an important role in one’s life. It is a weapon that can change the world with the
help of knowledge. Education of a child begins from home. It enhances behavior, culture, power of
thinking, reading, writing and most important communication skills.
Education helps in development and innovation technology in every field.

The ancient education is believed to be very disciplined and well-organized in 3 rd century. At that
time traditional and religious knowledge were the main subject.
At that time ‘Gurukul System’ were followed where they required teachers, students sharing their
knowledge and interacting with each other and this system was continued for generation to
generation. Students were educate that what is religion, philosophy, ware fare, medicine,
astrology, and the unique feature of this system was this was available for everyone. But at the end

of this course student have to give ‘Guru Dakshina’ to guru which was affordable for few students
only. This system was continued for many years.
At the beginning of medieval period in India there was a starting of many universities like
Takshashila, Nalanda, Vikramshila, and Ujjain. Many new subjects were introduced in the 18 th
century like grammar, logic, literature, law, medicine, Hinduism, Buddhism, politics, economic,
mathematics. Education started spreading widely through schools. This was the time where Madras
as established libraries.
In the modern period of India education started in 20 th century by Lord Macaulay who introduced
English language. Lord Macaulay thought that India should learn this language and should be more
intelligent, should have modern thoughts, morals and interest in new field which will help India to
be innovative in every field and this will help to enrich the Indian economic.
This was the period were the English language were given more priorities than other subjects.
After independence the educational system was governed or controlled by the central government.
As the time passed the state government became a part and the education system came in
constitution in 1976.
By the stat of 21 st century education policy came and became compulsory for every citizen in India
till 3-14 years of age.
Well India is a democratic country and is well known for many things but when it comes to
education there is a high rate of illiteracy and dropouts.
After independence when the education policy came into constitution. The scenario was totally
changed and this was the time when a drastic change came into the field of education. As the time
change the people changes and their needs too changes. And this change is necessary to come, as
this change will help our country to come forward and our country can compete with any other
country with the help of knowledge and technology.
In the past few years back students were given practical knowledge that how to deal with life in
proper manner. How to fulfill the needs, How to survive in life but now in modern education
system knowledge is become limited. By passing of time the people have lost the desire of study.

As the time is passing the burning desire for study, to become educated is being lost and education is
now become limited. Students go to school and colleges just to score good grade and degrees. They
have lost the desire to learn about new things other than books.
In modem education system the whole scenario is change from Gurukul to class; under a tree to
classroom; from black board to white board with projectors, books and pen/pencil. And now finally on
computers and laptops the whole education system is changed into digital world. Where teachers share
their knowledge for a couple period of time and give students a work to repeat what they have teaches
so that the concept becomes clear in student mind. And lastly the school and college prepare a yearly
exam and after that they hand over students a mark sheet and sent to next class.
For the whole year the student has to learn the books and the notes given by the teachers and this
system is controlled by the state board, yearly exams are conducted and mid exams. Students are given
criteria that they have to score more than this to pass the examination to go into next year or next class.
Different school are following different board like CBSE, GSEB (State Board), NCRT, etc. when the
education system came into constitution it become compulsory for 3 to 14 years of age and 10+2
system is followed, in which student are eligible to take the admission in school at the age of 3 and start
school journey. Here, primary knowledge is provided by the school authority. To enhance the power of
thinking and to think out of the box.
This system is divided into 4 parts Pre-Primary, Primary and High School and Higher Secondary and
then College for Graduation.

❖ Positive Impact of New Education Policy

After 34 years, the entire Education Policy is changed. The NEP 2020 (National Education Policy) has
launch a new innovative and inspiring education policy is passed by Union Cabinet on 31-07-2020.
And will come into existence till 2021.
The 10+2 system will be replaced by 5+3+3+4 curricular structure in which the first five years of age
will be 3 to 8 years is of pre-primary schooling and 1 st and 2 nd class as foundation stage.
Next three years of age will be 8 to 11 years where the students will be prepared for future.
Next three years of age will be 11 to 14 years where the students will introduce with Computer Coding
Language and from this age they can start internship in the field of interest.
Next four years will be 14 to 18 years where they have to do Masters in one particular subject.

As in older policy after High School student can choose either of 3 streams Science, Commerce, Arts
but now this the Streams are converted to Bridge Course.
Bridge Course means if a student have choose science stream but he or she want to Literature or Arts
they can do now with the help of Bridge Course and can study in both the streams.
This education policy will make Made in India Possible.
❖ Negative Effect of New Education Policy
New training program for the teachers have to be arraigned to understand new policy.
New Text, new Literature Books should be printed.
Computer Coding System may be difficult for the minor student of standard 6 th .
❖ Conclusion
Change is necessary in every field; because new discovery occur by experience and change.
